I am a joint-appointed professor in anthropology and public health at East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. I am Director of the Ethnic and Rural Health Disparities (ERHD) Graduate Certificate Online Program and Director of the Global Public Health Study Abroad program in the Department of Public Health.
The undergraduate courses that I teach are Cultural Anthropology, Introduction to Ethnic Studies, Medical Anthropology, Professional Development Anthropology, Race and Ethnic Relations: Discovering New Solutions, and seminar courses in Honors College - Breaking Barriers of Race in America and Cultural Awareness and Global Explosion.
The graduate courses that I teach are African American Health, Ethnic Health and Health Disparities, Global Public Health, Capstone Experience in Ethnic Health and Health Disparities, and Global Public Health Study Abroad Experience.
I am also a former Assistant and Associate Professor at the University of Houston, Indiana-University-Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI), the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences (UAMS), and Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science.
I have also worked outside of academia. I worked for the National Institutes of Health as a Health Scientist Administrator and Program Director in the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Comprehensive Minority Biomedical Branch (CMBB) and the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NCMHD) in Bethesda, Maryland.
